HOUSE - Physical Description 1
The house at 7 Mountfield Street, Brunswick is a timber double-fronted Victorian Italianate weatherboard villa (Ashlar boards to the facade) with a corrugated iron hipped roof, with eaves decoration. There are two rendered brick chimneys. The separate front verandah is supported on turned timber verandah posts, with original iron lacework. A notable feature is the unusual recessed doorway with panelled sides and highlights and sidelights of coloured glass, while the front windows are large paired double hung sash type. It appears to be largely intact and is in fair condition externally.
The house is a type that is common in Brunswick, however, the unusual detailing to the front doorway is the only known example of its type in the study area.
The low cyclone wire fence is a later (post war?) addition, which encloses a small, concreted front garden.HOUSE - Physical Conditions
