Statement of Significance
Latham Lodge was constructed by 1923 and is an unusual example of a not uncommon type, the Arts and Crafts inspired bungalow. Its use of roughcast on laths and imitation single weatherboard show an American influence, while its butresses a reminiscent of the work of C F Voysey and the English Domestic Revival as interpreted by the Melbourne architects, H D Annear and A W Plaistead. The combination of materials and design detailing appears unique in Coburg and rare in Victoria. Although in need of repair, the exterior appears to be unaltered. If built as early as the beginning of this century as has been suggested, this house would be a special interest. It is of regional significance (Hubbard 1991).
