Statement of Significance
An imposing example of the Corinthian Order set on a high and overbearing base. The overall design is complicated by the use of coupled columns and elaborate temple windows in the Ionic style on the first floor and the crowded quoin work on the pedestals which run through the ground floor. The interior is of interest because of the fireproof construction in the basement and the architectural decoration in the lower hall.
Classified: 'Regional' 03/08/1972
