Heritage Inventory History of Site: Sun Ray Salt mining began operation in 1934-35 continuing until 1970s. The first leasee was Mr Burt Truelove.

Heritage Inventory Interpretation: Former salt mining operation. Cheetham Salt presently harvest salt at Lake Daytrap, however these features will not be impacted on by the present operation.

SUNRAY SALT MINE COMPLEX - LAKE DAYTRAP - Heritage Inventory Description
Historic salt mining complex remaining from the Sun Ray Salt Mining operation which ran from 1934 until the 1970s.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Low to moderate however the railway lines may be a unique feature.
Heritage Inventory Site Features: Rail lines, a possible salt stock pile area, loading ramp/bay (recent)1. Rail lines which run along the southern entrance road to the lake and then continue across the lake.2. Possible stock pile/loading ramp area in the south corner of lake area; near entrance to lake using south running access road.
