Rare or localised
An unusual group planting (another small specimen occurs west of the house) in the garden that was part of "Rosehill" built in 1886, now demolished. Original garden trees still survive to the west, and although reputed to have been planted by Von Mueller, there is no evidence to support this claim. Phytolacca dioicaisan evergreen tree native to the pampas grasslands of South America that receives little rainfall, so the tree has developed a unique way of storing water by forming a large fleshy base.
The Ombu tree is rarely cultivated within Australia with only a few known specimens in the country
