Statement of Significance
Particularly old
Curious growth form
This Chinese Fig is an attractive mature specimen displaying a curiously striated and contorted trunk. It has a full rounded canopy and still fruits heavily each year. 'Gladstone House', attached to this garden was built in the Gothic Revival style in 1856 and a photograph of the property taken in the late 1870s already shows the tree as a well-established specimen.
It is located in the rear garden.
