Statement of Significance
Contribution to landscape
Particularly old
The garden at 'Cave Hill' is dominated by this tree. It is thought that the tree was planted in the 1840s by a Mr Edgar shortly after the Henty's arrival in Portland. The tree has a spreading crown and a well rounded canopy.
Visited in 2004 and 2013. New owners have not maintained the garden since 2004 and unfortunately the garden has returned to nature. It is extremely over grown and almost unrecognisable. In Jan 2013 added GPS coordinates.
