RUSSELLS RESERVOIR - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The reservoir appears to have been constructed by the Humbug Sluicing Company. The race running from the reservoir would have been used by other miners, including Chinese, to work the various gullies draining from the hill.Heritage Inventory Description
RUSSELLS RESERVOIR - Heritage Inventory Description
Embankment - 100 metres long, approximately 20 metres high.Water race - The Humbug water race commences at the base of the reservoir's embankment, south side of the gully.
Heritage Inventory Significance: The site has: Historical significance - associated with one of Creswick's main sluicing operations Scientific significance - reservoir and race system Network values - Humbug Hill workings, Lincoln Gully working, Mills Reef working, Humbug Hill water race, and Russells Reservoir Natural values - water race provides easy access through iron bark forest SIGNIFICANCE RANKING: Regional
