Heritage Inventory History of Site:
Chinamans Flat Lead was opened in 1856 and witnessed a huge rush. Deep lead mining commenced on the lead in 1864 with the operations of the Hit and Miss, United and Magnum Bonum companies. The main period of for deep lead mining for this section of the lead was the 1870s when there were several large companies in full production : including John Bright, Band of Hope and Prince of Wales.Heritage Inventory Description
