CHANNEL RUIN - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: Lots 59, 60, 65 and66 section L, parish of Dargalong were selected by Robert Patterson who obtained the grant on 29/12/1874. The East Goulburn Main Channel was constructed as part of the Goulburne Murray Scheme with the Nagambie Reservoir in the 1880's. The channel included several siphons beneath creeks which became the focus of activity. The ruins probably relate to this.
CHANNEL RUIN - Interpretation of Site
Heritage Inventory Interpretation: Appears to be located within the irrigation channel easement - if so, would most probably be a water bailiffs cottage (responsible for recording farm water use, collecting fees and checking and maintaining channels. The building remains, brick and some timber, suggest a late 19th century date
