House, rear 136-138 Grampians Road, HALLS GAP - Physical Description 1
The house at rear 136-138 Grampians Road, Halls Gap, has experienced a number of 20th century additions to the early Victorian vernacular style cottage. The early cottage qualities include the gable roof form, red painted galvanised corrugated steel roof cladding, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, face brick chimney with corbelled brick bands at the top (now painted), single storey height, central front timber framed doorway, and the symmetrical timber framed double hung windows. Part of the original front verandah remains with timber posts and arched decorative timber fretwork. This has been enclosed on each side by introduced skillion roofed additions. Further additions are skillion roofed extensions to one side and the rear and the addition of a skillion roofed car port to one side. These additions have somewhat subsumed the original cottage.
