The War Memorial, 2008 Landsborough Road, Joel Joel, has significance as a local, important commemorative icon. Joel Joel War Memorial, 2008 Landsborough Road, JOEL JOEL - Physical Description 1
The War Memorial consists of a narrow granite obelisk having an elongated base and stepped plinth. Fence posts and round steel rails define the memorial boundaries. Lead lettering affixed to the memorial lists the names of the soldiers who fought and died in the First World War (1914-1919). There is also an inscription that reads: "To The Honour of the Living and the Everlasting Glory of the Dead who Fought in the Great War 1914-1919." Added to the memorial is an inscription of those soldiers killed in action in the Second World War 1939-45.
COMPARATIVE
A very similar First World War Memorial Obelisk, complete with similar surrounds, is situated in the Concongella Cemetery at Concongella.
