BRITANNIA CREEK TRAMWAY, NO.4 MILL - History
Heritage Inventory History of Site: The No. 4 mill was constructed when log supplies were diminishing further down the Britannia Creek Valley. A one thousand acre logging lease was taken out and the mill was opened near the end of WW 1 The Yelland brothers operations concentrated on this and the No. 3 mill after they took it over. The communities around the mill grew rapidly from 1925, but the mill closed in late 1932BRITANNIA CREEK TRAMWAY, NO.4 MILL - Interpretation of Site
Used as a sawmill site in early 20th century, now regenerated as usused bushland.
BRITANNIA CREEK TRAMWAY, NO.4 MILL - Archaeological Significance
Sawmill sites are quite common throughout the region and the only surviving visible feature at this site is a sawdust heap. Some potential that the mill site is located nearby to the east. Low archaeological significance.

Another example of the sawmilling inducstry in the region. Further research may determine more information on the company and possible historic persons associated with the site.

BRITANNIA CREEK TRAMWAY, NO.4 MILL - Heritage Inventory Description
Former timber mill site. A large sawdust heap (40 metres in diameter and 20 metres high) is the only clear surviving feature of the site. The mill building may have been located 20 metreseast of the sawdust. Two small terraced areas here may mark the mill site. Some cable, ceramic fragments and snig tracks were apparent in the bush across the road from the sawdust heap.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Local. This is a later mill site.
