Heritage Inventory History of Site: The Toorongo settlement apparently included several shops and numerous houses during the 1940s. The saw mill sites were established to process several log dumps which were stock piled during the 1939 salvage operation.Heritage Inventory Description
TOORONGO SAWMILLS 1 & 2 - Heritage Inventory Description
A dug out remains at No.2. There is more evidence at Site No.1, including a flat 20ha of open area (gradually becoming overgrown), a large sawdust heap (75 x 40 x 10 metres high), scattered iron artefacts, numerous stumps with springboard holes, possible building site.
