The railway bridge, May Road, Banyena has significance as an important reminder of the Marnoo railway line built in 1908-09. The opening of the railway brought with it renewed prosperity for the district in the early years of the 20th century. The bridge is in poor condition and appears to have lost its track and sleepers.
The railway bridge, May Road, Banyena is aesthetically significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of early 20th century timber trestle bridge construction. These qualities include the multi-spanning timber members, timber trestles and timber deck.
The railway bridge, May Road, Banyena historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the construction of the railway to Marnoo in 1908-09. The multi-spanning timber trestle railway bridge, May Road, Banyena has a timber deck that carried a single track. The track and timber sleepers appear to have been removed.
