The house, 16 Newall Street, Marnoo, is set on a wide allotment, having a frontage comprising an open grassed area featuring some exotic trees.
The asymmetrical, single storey, strapped cement sheet, transitional Federation and interwar Bungalow styled house is characterised by complex roof forms including a central gambrel and projecting broken back return verandah, and rear gabled and hipped roof forms that project to the sides. These roof forms are clad in green painted galvanised corrugated iron and feature ridge decoration on the main central ridge line.
A feature of the design is the return verandah. It has timber verandah columns with arched timber valances having curving Art Nouveau fretwork typical of the Federation style.
Other features include the early banks of timber framed windows, with fixed central windows and flanking double hung windows, being typical of interwar Bungalow design.
The right side of the front verandah was the original shopfront that was altered when the house was altered to solely residential purposes in the 1970s.
