Statement of Significance
The former Presbyterian Church, 38 High Street, Navarre, has significance as an intact example of the Federation Carpenter Gothic Style and as a legacy of the importance of the Presbyterian Church at Navarre in the early 20th century. Built in 1908, the church building appears to be in fair condition when viewed from the road.
The former Presbyterian Church, 38 High Street, Navarre, is architecturally significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of the Federation Carpenter Gothic style. These qualities include the simple steeply pitched gable roof form, together with the minor porch gable at the front. Other intact or appropriate qualities include the modest scale, galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding, horizontal timber weatherboard wall cladding, gablet dormer ventilators, narrow eaves, pointed-arched timber framed windows at the side, pointed arched gable ventilator and the pointed arched porch entrance with timber doors. The surrounding mature trees also contribute to the significance of the place.

Former Presbyterian Church, 38 High Street, NAVARRE - Physical Description 1
The former Presbyterian Church, 38 High Street, Navarre, has a rural setting. Surrounding the church building are mature pines and eucalypts, together with an Italian cypress near the front porch. The front is bound by a 20th century concrete post and cyclone wire fence with a central gateway with brick memorial pillars.
The modestly scaled, horizontal timber weatherboard, Federation Carpenter Gothic styled church building is characterised by a simple steeply pitched gable roof form, together with a minor porch gable at the front. These roof forms are clad in galvanised corrugated iron. Gablet dormer ventilators adorn the roofline, while narrow overhangs are features of the eaves.
Other early features of the design include the pointed arched timber framed windows at the side, pointed arched gable ventilator and the pointed arched porch entrance with timber doors.
