O'SHANNASSY AQUEDUCT SAWMILL SITE - History
From September 1901 three sawmillers - Anderson, Richards and Robinson- established their plants in the area. Over the years the site was used for sawmilling by several businesses, including Jas Henty & CO. The log tramway was extended to convey logs from Mt Donna Buang (McCarthy).O'SHANNASSY AQUEDUCT SAWMILL SITE - Interpretation of Site
The site was once used extenssively by the timber industry with at least three companies logging in the very early 20th century. After extensive development, the industry ceased in the area and the land is now parkland, a resort and golf course.
O'SHANNASSY AQUEDUCT SAWMILL SITE - Archaeological Significance
The site has the potential for archaeoloigcal depostis to exist either side of the aqueduct and path. There is also the potential for intact surface features to be present unde rthe bush undergrowth.
O'SHANNASSY AQUEDUCT SAWMILL SITE - Historical Significance
The area was used extensively by the sawmilling industry, by three compaies in the very early 20th century. The sawmilling industry was important to the early development of Warburton.
