Heritage Inventory History of Site:
The weir is part of the Rough and Tumble System supplying water to Lorne from 1889. Castiron pipeline placed in 1909. The weir was constructed in 1920. The Rough and Tumble system was replaced by the Allen Dam, 1957-8, completely by 1991-3. In 1997 the Rough and Tumble pipeline was damaged by a falling tree. It is proposed to decommission the site and breach the weir.

ERSKINE WEIR - Heritage Inventory Description
/nRubble and masonary overflow weir with concrete abutments and two outlet valves connecting to a cast iron pipeline.
Heritage Inventory Significance: Locally significant
Heritage Inventory Key Components: Overflow weir, concrete abutments, encased valves - one at centre controlling water flow through weir, one at southern side connecting to pipeline, cast iron pipeline (4 inch), recently added gauging station. Heritage Inventory Features: 1. Modern gauging station made of sheet metal, located behid the weir wall. 2. Weir wall - rubble and masonary over 1.5 metres high, approximately 15 metres long, 730 mm wide with curved concrete capping. Bevelled profile. 3. Cast iron valve encased in rubble and masonary housing. 4. Cast iron valve in rubble and masonary housing, connected to cast iron pipeline. 5. 4 inch pipe. 2.32 metre section intact.
