The larger of two Quercus robur in Racecourse Road, is important for its association with the historic gold mining town of Yackandandah in north-east Victoria. The tree has growth characteristics consistent with trees over 100 years of age. Its establishment is consistent with the gold mining era and the genesis of the township. Thetree isa tremendous legacy and asset to the regional community. Its location adjacent to Marcus Creek and below the nearby hospital / aged care facility provides a significant landmark inherently important to the community.
