Hospital Hill:
Part of the hill top to the north of the gaol was reserved as a Chinese cemetery.
Ararat Land Act 1926
16.02.1863 The land wa splaced under the control of the Ararat Agricultural Horticultural and Pastoral Society temporarily reserved as a site for show-yards for the exhibition of stock and produce in connection with the Ararat Agricultural Society (Ararat Agricultural Horticultural and Pastoral Society)
6.03.1865 the Govenor placed the land under the control of the Trustees of the Ararat Public. With the exception of the remains of 2 graves, all other known burials were exhumed and reinterred (where?).
22.12.1902 The remaining portion temporarily reserved from sale a site for show yards in addition to an adjoining site temporarily reserved by the Order of 16.02.1863
1926: Ararat Hort & Past Soc. Agreed to surround the remaining 2 graves with fences and to maintain them.Heritage Inventory Description

Former cemetery reserve is now lined on four sides by Monterey or Radiata Pines, in single rows, which form an important landscape element on the northern side of the city.
