Ararat Military Food Store - Veterans Description for Public
The Langi Morgala (formerly Carroll's Wool store) has been described as 'surely one of the most elaborate and sophisticated wool stores to be constructed during the nineteenth century'. It was built in 1874 as a wool and grain store on a site chosen because of its closeness to the proposed railway. In 1942, the Federal Government took over the building as a military food store and subsequently Prestige Pty Ltd. manufactured parachutes there. Since 1970, the Ararat and District Historical Society, which displays the Langi Morgala Museum collection, have occupied the building.
