Inglewood War Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
The Inglewood War Memorial, on Grant and Verdon Streets, was erected on December 28th 1921. The Memorial comprises of a digger statue staring into the middle distance and holding a rifle upside down - the symbolic funereal position of 'arms reversed'. The statue is mounted on on a column of basalt, the sides of which are engraved with 268 names of Inglewood's fallen and returned soldiers who fought in the Boer War, First World War and Second World War. It is encircled by a low post and chain fence.
In 2011 a Vietnam Veterans plaque was added to the memorial. It recognises those who enlisted while living in Inglewood or who were born in Inglewood and was unveiled on 25 April 2011. The plaque lists the following names:
