COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
The memorial gates at Narringal public hall which were erected to honour local soldiers who served in world wars is a modest and utilitarian memorial compared to the other typical stone memorials popular after the First World War. Other memorial gates were installed at public sites elsewhere in the Shire . . . for example at Woorndoo recreation reserve (1945). There were also memorial gates installed at Koroit Botanic Gardens in the early 1930s and at the Mortlake (D.C. Farran) recreation reserve in 1940, although these examples do not honour fallen soldiers.Narringal Memorial Gates and Monument - Physical Conditions
