Statement of Significance
Wedges Banyon waterholes run was the earliest settlement in Carrum area, dating to 1840s. Potential archaeological evidence of first decade of white settlement and aboriginal contact.

WEDGES STATION - History
THE WEDGE BROTHERS ARRIVED IN PORT PHILLIP WITH BATMANS ASSOCIATION AND BY THE EARLY 1840S HAD ESTABLISHED SEVERAL PASTORAL RUNS. THEY HAD CLAIMED BANYON WATERHOLES RUN FROM KEYSBOROUGH TO CARRUM AND FRANKSTON BY 1843. THIS WAS REDUCED BY SUBDIVISION AND EVENTUALLY TO A 660A PRE-EMPTIVE RIGHT.WEDGES STATION - Interpretation of Site
C1850 parish plan shows several buildings on edge of swamp and indicated as Wedges Station. Most evidence however appears to relate to late c1900 farm complex; itself demolished in the 1980s.

WEDGES STATION - Heritage Inventory Description
Garden remnants include agave, cactus fruit tree, pines etc; 20-c buildings now demolished. Remnants of a number of buildings along east side of former Carrum swamp. Most appear related to the c1900 farm complex although historical records show 19-C occupation. Peppercorn trees and other plants indicate landscape and garden.
Tree rows (20-c); garden remnants, brick edges, plants; stone & brick foundations; concrete paving from paths and building floors; scattered ceramics and glass; depressions and earth mounds.
