Although nothing is known of the history of the site it is likely that it was associated with early mining activities. (1850-1880)MAIDEN GULLY 1 - Interpretation of Site
Although nothing is known of the history of this site, it seems likely that it was associated with early mining activities. The site seems to be the remains of a building which was demolished and subsequently bulldiozed into piles of rubble.
Heritage Inventory Description
MAIDEN GULLY 1 - Heritage Inventory Description
This is a surface scatter of hand-made brick and rock covering an area approximately 50m (n-s) x 70m (e-w). There also appears to be remains of a demolished building.
Three distinctive groups of concentrated brick and stone are present, with lower densities of stone and brick scattered in other parts of the site. The stone is sedimentary and quartz. Occasional pieces of flat galvanised iron are present. The southern rubble group covers a hummock with clover and onion weed cover.
