Statement of Significance
Newmanns farm house, outbuildings, former slab hut site and stone well, all date from the early period of European settlement in this area. The farm house and outbuildings show the changing functions of rural life, as needs arose, through to the 1950s. This is part of the unrecorded history of this area, has great potential for sub-surface deposits, and has been given a significance rating of high at the local level.

NEUMANNS FARM HOUSE, OUTBUILDINGS AND FEATURES - History
Carl Newmann purchased 80 acres east of Bassetts Road prior to 1870. He is attributed with uilding Newmanns farm house and possibly some of the outbuildings (Gould 1991). However the Bassetts were probably responsible for the dairy during the c1930s. Other features on property scuh as slab hut site and the stone 'well' are possibly attributed Newmanns period of ownership. The dairy has seen improvements and extensions, particularly in the 1950s during the changeover from Bassetts to Rodgers ownership.NEUMANNS FARM HOUSE, OUTBUILDINGS AND FEATURES - Archaeological Significance

NEUMANNS FARM HOUSE, OUTBUILDINGS AND FEATURES - Heritage Inventory Description
Site consists of the 1870s farm house, in northern section of property, with former carriage house and stables, dairy, well and shed, blacksmiths shed and other farm outbuildings. To the north-east of the house site is Feature 1, a slab hut site and to the south-east of the house lies a stone 'well'.
Farm house and several outbuildings, former slab hut site, stone well.
Physical Conditions: House and outbuildings are extant. Slab hut site is demolished. Stone 'well' is buried.
