FORMER BEVERIDGE STATION COMPLEX - History
This station was opened on 14 October 1872. A goods shed was erected in 1872 before being moved in 1885 to its current location, on the down side of the railway tracks. The platform of the station was extended in 1883 and a new up platform constructed, meaning that platforms were located on both sides of the railway tracks, parallel to each other. On the 1 August 1883, the station was opened as a staff station. The line was duplicated from Donnybrook on 20 August 1883, and was then duplicated northwards in 1886. The present station building, located on the down platform, was imported from Bright to replace the original in October 1900. The station was closed on 2 April 1990 and the platforms were removed on 14 February 1991.FORMER BEVERIDGE STATION COMPLEX - Interpretation of Site
Beveridge Station was opened with the rail line in 1872 and closed in 1978. Although the station was never a large passenger station, it was functioning for over 100 years. Evidence of two of the former station's platforms still exists. However, archival plans indicate that there were buildings and structures associated with the station, and due to the lack of their physical remains, it is clear that they have been removed. However, it is often the case that when buildings are demolishedthe foundations remain intact below the ground surface. Hence it is likely that more foundations of the station complex still exist below the ground surface.
