The Gows Hotel siteas no aesthetic value, but has local historical significance and some educational potential. The scientific significance of the site is considered to be moderate.
Dargo High Plains first leased for grazing in the 1860s. Once mining commenced, hotels/accommodation houses and stores set up to cater for miners travelling to the diggings. Gows Hotel was probably built late in the 19th century and was still standing when the photograph was taken in 1909.
The site consists of an artefact scatter and the bottom courses of wall foundations of heavy boulders (basalt) located in an area identified as the Gows Hotel site. A small number of exotic tress surround the foundations.
