Maryborough South East Asia Memorial - Veterans Description for Public
The Maryborough South East Asia Memorial, in Phillips Gardens, was unveiled on 16th February 1997 by John Gault, Chief Commissioner of the Central Goldfields Shire. The memorial is a flagstaff with a large concrete base engraved in gold with the dates of the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Malaya and Borneo. On 18th August 2006, the flagstaff was presented to the Central Goldfields Shire by the Victorian Vietnam Veterans Community to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
