Numurkah Commemorative P.O.W. Plantation - Veterans Description for Public
The Numurkah Commemorative P.O.W. Plantation,onTocumwal Road an Pine Street, was unveiled on 16th November 1986 by Mayor G. Brown-Shepherd. Trees were planted from Tocumwal Road down to the south side of the railway line. A small monument and sign mark the plantation with the inscription, "Dedicated to the servicemen of Numurkah and District who were prisoners of war during the Second World War. The quality of Australian mateship prevailed and expressed itself in enduring comradeship born out of adversity."
