RUSSELL CREEK PIONEER CEMETERY - History
It is likely that there were approximately 12 burials in the Russell Creek Cemetery between 1860 and 1920. Information taken from death certificates suggests that these may include the following:
Scott, John; died 12th December 1861 at Russells Creek. Buried 20th December 1861.
Alderson, George; died aged 59 years7th March 1862 as a result of being struck by a branch falling from a tree.
Page, Amelia; died 20th November 1863, aged 30 years.
Burgess, Amelia; died 11th April 1886, aged 5 years.
RUSSELL CREEK PIONEER CEMETERY - Interpretation of Site
This is probably the site of the cemetery recorded near Russell Creek from the 19th century. A stump on the site may have been intented to mark the cemetery, but it seems more likely that this represents the remains of a fencepost. The presence of burials is not obvious from surface inspection.

The cemetery probably contains human remains in unmarked burials, some of which may have been disturbed by later activity.

The site of the Russell Creek PioneerCemeteryis clearly marked by a large cross in the north west corner. It lies in undulating hill country sown to pasture, with remnant vegetation and some patches of bush.
