Yea War Memorial Pillar - Veterans Description for Public
The Yea War Memorial Pillar, on Lyons and Pelissier Streets, was unveiled by Lieutenant Colonel Courtney on Anzac Day 1923. On the day of the unveiling, community groups gathered including returned soldiers, girl guides, boy scouts, school children and the Yea Municipal Band. The bandmaster Thorley played the Last Post. The monument was inscribed with the names of fallen district servicemen of the Boer War, First World War and later with the names of those who fell in the Second World War.
