Statement of Significance
B Listed - Regional Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
'Kandahar' was erected c1880 as a renovation to an earlier villa of 1871. Alexander Davidson & Co., architects, designed this building in their characteristic French Romanesque revival mode derived from the publications of French architectural historian Viollet-le-Duc. The front fence, now removed, completed the architectural composition. It is a distinct and important example of this architectual style in the Geelong region.
