Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A characteristic timber symmetrical Italianate house built in 1890 with an unusual eaves valance. However, it is architecturally significant locally as representative of this domestic style and historically as embodying lower middleclass life in Newtown just before the great economic crash of 1892.

Residence - Physical Description 1
An elevated double-fronted timber symmetrical Italianate house, with a high hipped roof and a verandah across. This has a shallow ogee hipped root with scalloped fretwork decoration over a castiron lace valance and brackets and castiron Composite posts, with coin-mould decoration. Chimneys are rendered with fine Classical mouldings. Eaves are shaped to turn down as a valance to turned spindle ogee brackets, between roundels and round-ended panels. Windows are tripartite and the entrance has side and fan lights.
