Statement of Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
A bichromatic brick Italianate cottage built in 1889. It is architecturally significant locally as representative of this domestic style and historically in embodying life in Newtown in 1880s.
INTACTNESS: Good. There is a very major double-storey addition at the rear. The fence, verandah floor, entry leadlight and paving are historicist and recent. The west wall has been roughcast. Verandah posts lack capital (?)
CONDITIONS AND THREATS: Excellent. The roughcast is spalling off due to an invasive creeper.
REFERENCE: City of Newtown and Chilwell Rate Books.
