STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
Grecian's Cottage, a two storey Colonial Georgian style stone residence of 4 rooms at 9 Bambra Street Geelong was erected in 1854-55 for George Grecian, the Clerk of Works to the Town of Geelong.
This asymmetrically planned cottage of vernacular design origins is built of squared coursed bluestone rubble with freestone dressings and is representative of the earliest period of settlement in Geelong. The cottage remained in the Grecian family until early in the 20th Century.
