BEATTYS ROAD BLUESTONE COTTAGE AND CISTERN - History
The Rockbank-Melton area has been used for agricultural and pastoral purposes since World War I when the 'Closer Settlement' scheme saw the breaking up of some of the larger land holdings in the area into smaller allotments. BEATTYS ROAD BLUESTONE COTTAGE AND CISTERN - Heritage Inventory Description
The site is characterised by asmall bluestone and brick cottage approximately 50 m south of Beattys Road. A more recent corrugated iron rod has been added. The building has a partially collapsed bluestone and brick chimney and a small brick cistern is located on the south western side of the building, which appears to be cement lined and possibly domed. The surrounding land has been used for agricultural purposes. The site extent is approximately 10 m around the building footprint.
