Outstanding example of species
This walnut tree (Juglans regia) is of outstanding size and appears to date from Victoria's pastoral run era. It is believed to have been planted during the 1850s by William Roadknight Sen. who held the Stony Rises Run from circa 1844-1862. It is a remnant orchard specimen and the largest of several surviving walnut trees. The tree has good balance, with several long, low hanging branches which extend to the outer limits of its spread. There is no substantiating evidence, however, as to who planted the tree or its age.
