BOB SHORTEM'S SHANTY SITE - History
Bob Shortem operated an accommodation house, noted on 1866 maps as a 'shanty'with his wife and children. Irish-born Shortem was a farmer butwa also known to have worked as a carrier and bullock driver. Shortem returned to farming after acquiring agricultural land selections between Toongabbie and Heyfield, fronting the Thomson River.BOB SHORTEM'S SHANTY SITE - Historical Significance
