Heritage Inventory Description
DOCTOR SMITHS REEF - Heritage Inventory Description
Two shafts, approximately 30 m apart, are found at this site. The depth of the shafts could not be determined as it is dangerous to approach the shaft collars owing to the instability of the mullock which slopes inwards towards the shafts openings. The mullock heaps at each shaft are estimated at approximately 125 tonnes each (±20 %). There is little quartz visible in the mullock
