FASHAM HOUSE COMPLEX - History
AB Fasham was a soldier settler who selected land in the Mount Violet Estate after it was sold for soldier settlement in 1921. The 1928 (1943) Chatsworth topographic map shows the approximate location of the house complex. After Fasham died in 1954 the property was sold. Improvements on the block is historically listed including a house, cowshed, woolshed, sheep yards, two mills and a permanent lake.
FASHAM HOUSE COMPLEX - Archaeological Significance
The site represents a typical WWI soldier settlement development for pastoral development including the growing of sheep and cattle. Activities included domestic living, sheep, wool production and cattle (most likely for dairy). The place has low potential for subsurface archaeological deposits at the former house site and other demolished structures if their locations are able to be identified.
