Statement of Significance
A Listed - State Significance
The two storey residence and surgery at 6 Ryrie Street, Geelong, was designed by the prolific Scots born architects, Davidson and Henderson for Edinburgh born medico, Dr. George Glendinning. Erected in 1877, this distinctive Victorian eclectic style residence is built in the characteristic mode of the architects using bricks and freestone combined with decorative ironwork and plaster mouldings derived from the Romanesque and French Gothic periods. Dr. Glendinning died before occupation and was later occupied by his successor, Dr. Wyer. The residence is a noted work of the architects and a distinctive Victorian architectural design.
