Statement of Significance
B Listed - Regional Significance
STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCEThe premises of Henry Thacker, stationers, booksellers and printers of 131-133 Ryrie Street were established in 1850-51 for J. Waddleton. A new brick and cement rendered facade was added tot eh existing fabric in 1912-13 to the Edwardian Art Nouveau style designs of Geelong Architects Laird and Barlow. The unusual three bay composition with flanking partitions and bay windows is a distinctive design and an outstanding example of the architecture of the early 20th Century. The influence of Robert Haddon is apparent in the facade articulation.
