Statement of Significance
Significant
A Listed - State Significance
The 9 room villa 'Belleville' at 350 Ryrie Street, Geelong, was erected in 1870 for David Boswell Reid, from designs prepared by leading Geelong architects, Davidson and Henderson. This two storey dichromatic brick residence is in the style of the picturesque gothic villa and enhanced full height bay windows and ornamental carvings in Waurn Ponds freestone.
The interiors are innovatively detailed, with the iron balustrated staircase, plaster ceilings and billiard room (1874) of great interest. The front fence to Ryrie Street is notable and intact.
