An individual Mountain Gum in a natural forest setting, growing close to the summit of Mt Big Ben in Yackandandah.
How is it significant?
This Mountain Gum is significant for scientific and social reasons at the Regional level.
Why is it significant?
This Mountain Gum is scientifically significant for its large size. While some younger specimens have a better form, it is rare for them to reach such old age and size as this specimen. The Mountain Gum is close to its maximum potential size for the species and locality. Furthermore, this tree is socially significant for its contribution to the natural forest landscape.
