Residence "Almora" - Physical Description 1
DESCRIPTION:
This residence originally fronted the Terrace, high on the hill with views to Bass Strait, but has been subdivided and is now accessed from the Parade. The building is a late Victorian style timber frame, weatherboard clad house with a hipped and gable roof, clad in corrugated iron, and two rendered chimneys behind the ridge.
The south elevation has a projecting hipped roof section with a large aluminum frame sliding window. The corrugated iron clad verandah has timber posts, brackets and a balustrade with timber cross bracing. There are aluminum frame sliding windows under the verandah and a timber frame door with a sidelight on the east elevation. The verandah floor is timber, off ground level, with horizontal timber cladding. The south elevation has been altered and the only original decoration are the turned timber eave brackets in pairs. The north elevation has also been altered and extended, but the original double gable roof line, with weatherboard cladding and a louvered vent, is still visable.
