Statement of Significance
This large Tudor-style house was designed by Melbourne architect Robert Hamilton in 1926. Both house and environs have a high standard of integrity.
It is of aesthetic, social and historic significance to the local Ocean Grove community.
This is an unusually large and wellbuilt house for Ocean Grove and one of the few constructed in the 1920s. The extensive doublestorey residence was built in InterWar Old English Tudor style. It was built by the McKellar family who farmed the Kingston Estate. 1996

"Kingston" - Physical Description 1
Description
This extensive, double storey residence is sited on a large block, set back from the road in a landscaped garden with several mature exotic and native trees. It was designed by architect Robert Hamilton c1926 in Inte rWar Old English style , with picturesque asymmetry and Tudor style half timbering.
The multi fronted building has a system of intersecting gable roofs, high pitched and clad in terracotta tiles. The west elevation has two projecting gables, and a central , single storey flat roof verandah over the entrance. It has four tall brick chimneys , and most of the original windows are timber framed and multiple light casement style. The ground level is brick clad , and the second level has vertical timber cladding. It is an example of an architect designed 1920s grand house , with nostalgic ties to AngloSaxon heritage.
