Office Now Civic Conveyancing - Physical Description 2
DESCRIPTION
Following the Queen Ann revival style, this picturesque red and cream brick house addresses its corner site well, given the contribution of the diagonal corner verandah bay and bell-cast roof to the tower. The three dimensional modelling of the design is typically comprised of a gabled roof bay set against a hipped roof back-drop, the tower and tympanum foliation and cement pediment a on the chimney shafts adding distinction. Further valuables detailing includes the shingled panels, set into the slatted verandah frieze (comprised of carved slats), the fretted brackets and boldly-formed turned timber posts. Leaded glass patterns have also been set in window top-lights.
External Integrity
Fence replaced (assumed timber picket) and visually related by extensive rear additions. Trim colours are sympathetic (cream stucco)
Streetscape
Related in part (ornament) to the adjoining 16 Myers Street, this house is more closely identifiable with St Mary's College complex further east.
