Statement of Significance
Hotel site - The site is know to have been occupied in the 1860s by the Big Hill Hotel. The very early site of 'Pretty Sally's' Hotel - ie : pre 1850s is most likely to the west of this site as a contemporaryobservation noted a sly grog shop beside the "old stock route" which was to the "west of the summit" .[J R Maher'Tale of a Century' ]
Big Hill site is at the summit. Given this, the Big Hill hotel site, if anything remains, would be significant as an early hotel site associated with the gold rush and other mid C19th rural and transitory activities.
